Working towards nothing! Living for God!

So you pray and ask God to come into your heart. You completely repent of all the sins you have committed against him and you invite him to be your guide and leader in this life! CONGRATULATIONS! You just started living a life that will bless you for years and years to come. Trust me.

However, many people believe that they do not deserve to be saved. This is incredibly egocentric, and let me tell you why:

“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten son; That whosoever believes in him shall not perish, but have eternal life.” John 3:16.

God sent Christ to die for this world, the WHOLE world. This is not an exclusive club. Anyone can join, because he loves us and wants us to feel undeserving because we cannot boast! It is by JESUS that we are saved, not of the good things we have done our whole lives…. A man can work his tail off until the end of his days and have no eternal or even earthly reward from God if he has no faith.

Now this also goes for those who keep his law without faith. Now don’t get me wrong, as Christians we are to live lives that will show others the goodness and love of our God. “Sunday Christians” do not count in this. If you are a saved christian living in sin, its kind of like saying you are rich, and living in poverty. You cannot love God, and not obey him. Loving and believing in God through Christ Jesus is what makes you saved.

Some would say “Well if we are not saved by works then why do we have to stop living as we do?”

Lets pretend your children were born about 10 years ago. Meaning they were put into your life without doing anything to deserve it. Now, they start to ignore you, and do things you tell them not to, and they turn 18 and fly the coop after 8 years of constant battles. A year or so later, you know they are still doing bad things and not living the way you taught them to live and they want to move back home. Would you let them come back home Scot free? Or would you set some ground rules so they wont walk all over you like they did before they left?

I know I would set a few rules to be followed! However, they can come home because I love them!

Its the same concept with God! He wants us to come home, but we have rules to follow.

Make sense? If you are living in disobedience to God, you are losing his blessings. Just as a parent takes away toys, time, or privileges when our children disobey us!

I hope I made this concept look easy, because the real point is, it is difficult to be a follower of God, but when we are saved, it is not because of us. Christ died for us. The least we can do is live to show and tell the world about him!!!

Galatians 3

3 You foolish Galatians! Who has bewitched you? Before your very eyes Jesus Christ was clearly portrayed as crucified. 2 I would like to learn just one thing from you: Did you receive the Spirit by the works of the law, or by believing what you heard? 3 Are you so foolish? After beginning by means of the Spirit, are you now trying to finish by means of the flesh?[a] 4 Have you experienced[b] so much in vain—if it really was in vain? 5 So again I ask, does God give you his Spirit and work miracles among you by the works of the law, or by your believing what you heard?6 So also Abraham “believed God, and it was credited to him as righteousness.”[c]

7 Understand, then, that those who have faith are children of Abraham. 8 Scripture foresaw that God would justify the Gentiles by faith, and announced the gospel in advance to Abraham: “All nations will be blessed through you.”[d] 9 So those who rely on faith are blessed along with Abraham, the man of faith.

10 For all who rely on the works of the law are under a curse, as it is written: “Cursed is everyone who does not continue to do everything written in the Book of the Law.”[e] 11 Clearly no one who relies on the law is justified before God,because “the righteous will live by faith.”[f] 12 The law is not based on faith; on the contrary, it says, “The person who does these things will live by them.”[g]13 Christ redeemed us from the curse of the law by becoming a curse for us, for it is written: “Cursed is everyone who is hung on a pole.”[h] 14 He redeemed us in order that the blessing given to Abraham might come to the Gentiles through Christ Jesus, so that by faith we might receive the promise of the Spirit.
